Surface to Air was born out of a beat up old loft in Union Square, NY in 1996. Its initial members began to work together as artists, and the space quickly transformed itself into a cultural breeding ground for other new and emerging artists to come and create and exhibit their work in an environment that supported them. In the years that have since followed, the members of Surface to Air have been developing into a more sophisticated means those very same ideas which originally inspired it - that of finding a unique place where true creativity and artistic expression meets the commercial palate of the global community at large.
